Rates are based on the word count in
the target language, desired delivery speed, and estimated
amount of time to complete the job. Rates are normally calculated by
a word count of the target document, although there are exceptions
to this rule. For specialized translations or other language
services, an hourly charge may apply.

By hiring Hammond
Translation Services, you agree to the following terms and
conditions:
Payment is due
before work is commenced unless credit terms have been agreed to
in advance.
All work requests
must be in writing by email, fax or post and include the price
agreed by both parties.
Any liability of
Hammond Translation Services shall be limited to the billable
amount on the invoice.
We are happy to
provide corrections of errors or omissions at no charge.
However, modifications brought about by a change in the source
text (additions/edits) do not fall into this category.
No claims shall be
considered after 10 days from receipt of invoice.
Quotes based on
target word count are only estimates. The actual billed amount
will depend on the number of target words when the job has been
completed.
An alternate hourly fee may
apply for specialized work such as marketing, advanced
proofreading/editing, DTP/layout work, or other special
circumstances. The fee will be communicated to you at the time
of the quotation.
Minimum guaranteed turn-around
time is three business days. A surcharge of US$50 per day is
charged for rush projects. Also, depending on available time,
stated quality procedures may be skipped. This will be notified
in advance.
Requests for technical
translations must be accompanied by reference documents,
drawings or diagrams supplied by the client.
In the event of a client
canceling an order, all work already completed will be billed at
100%, work in progress will be billed at 50%.
Unless the client is outside
Japan and this is apparent, Japanese Consumption Tax of 5% will
be added.
Any work in progress will be
suspended in the event of late- or non-payment of fees due.
In the case of advertising and
promotional materials, we will not be liable for drafting the
text in an advertising style different from the source text.
Complaints must be received
within 10 working days of receiving the translation. All
complaints must be accompanied by the original documents and
disputed translations. Once the above time period has elapsed,
the translation shall be considered correct.
In the event of a complaint
within the above timeframe we agree to deliver an edited version
of the disputed translation at our own expense. This second
document shall be used to judge the quality of the translation
in order to establish the amount of reimbursement.
We will not be held liable for
delays caused by malfunctioning faxes, modems, e-mail and other
information transport media not directly under our control. At
the same time, we will strive to ensure timely delivery and take
appropriate alternative action if it appears difficult to do so.
Defects present in one part of
the translation shall not be grounds, for questioning the entire
translation.
Only written agreements between
the parties shall be taken into consideration.
In the event of disputes
Japanese law will apply.
Translations remain the property
of Hammond Translation Services until paid for in full.
Hammond Translation Services
assumes a confidentiality agreement for every client, but we are
happy to enter into any agreements required by your organization
after reviewing their terms.
We strive to take appropriate
data security steps, including daily backup, regular system
maintenance, network firewall, and updated virus software.
DISCLAIMER
We do not acknowledge any guarantee related to services offered
including all implicit guarantees and conditions regarding
salability, suitability for a particular purpose, ownership and
non violation of the rights of others.
We shall not be liable for any reason whatsoever for special,
indirect or consequential damages or any other damages of any
type resulting from the loss of rights to use, loss of
information or lost profits, whether they result from
performance of the contract, negligence or other detrimental
actions, deriving from or in some way connected with Hammond
Translation Services.
Payment Options
A billing invoice will
be emailed to you upon completion of the job. We accept the following
forms of payment:
Payment by
PayPal Through PayPal we accept payment in any currency by
credit-card or by a PayPal- linked bank account.
Your billing invoice can be provided in either US Dollars or
Japanese Yen. If you are paying with a currency other than US
Dollars or Japanese Yen, PayPal's exchange rate will apply.
Moneybookers is
popular in European countries and has low service fees.
Payment to a
United States Bank
We accept payment in US Dollars by check, Fedwire or SWIFT deposit to a
personal account we maintain in the United
States.
Payment to a
Japanese Bank We accept payment in Japanese Yen by domestic deposit or
SWIFT deposit to a bank account we maintain in Japan.
(For non-PayPal rate
conversions, the invoice is calculated using the prevailing rate at
www.oanda.com at the time of delivery).
